Olivier De Schutter is professor at the University of Louvain (UCL). He was between 2008 and 2014 the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to food, and is since 2015 member of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. His research focuses on the theory of governance and social and economic rights, as well as the ecological transition.
